Summary
This article reviews the Bulk Status Update feature, which lets you select multiple alerts from the Alerts page and change their status in one action. This feature is designed for common workflows like clearing lower-priority alerts or moving a batch of alerts forward without handling each individually. It applies the same explanatory note to all selected alerts in the batch update.
Two ways to Bulk Update
Option 1: Use the Select All dropdown
At the top-left of the alerts table, click the checkbox dropdown to select all alerts of a single status on the current page:
- Needs Review
- Under Review
- Resolved
Note: Selections are page-scoped (25, 50, 75, or 100). The results per page can be adjusted at the bottom right of the Alerts page.
Option 2: Multi-select individual alerts
Check individual rows to build a custom selection across statuses on the current page.
How to update statuses (step-by-step)
- Filter alerts as needed on the Alerts page.
- Select alerts using the Select All dropdown or by checking individual rows.
-
Click Update Status at the top of the table.
- In the modal, choose the new status
- Add a note. The note will be applied to all selected alerts.
-
Click Save Status.
-
Confirm the change in the second confirmation modal.
Tip: The note you enter in Step 4 will be applied to every alert in your selection. Use a clear, descriptive note that includes the date and reason — for example, "Batch Resolved on mm/dd/yyyy — low-priority opt-out alerts, no action required per policy." This makes it easy to audit and understand the context of the update later.
Note: Bulk updates are limited to one page at a time. After saving, the page refreshes with your filters preserved, allowing you to proceed to the next set.
Safety features and limits
- Page-scoped only: You can modify only the alerts visible on the current page (up to 100 per action).
- Two-step confirmation: You must confirm the change in a second modal before updates are applied.
- Auto-refresh with filters: After a bulk update, the list refreshes and retains your filters to continue safely in batches.
Best practices for Bulk Status Update
Exercise caution before bulk resolving. Bulk actions are fast and impactful—verify your selection and filters every time.
- Verify filters first: Narrow your list to exactly what you intend to update (e.g., Alert Type, Provider Type, Business Unit, Review Status, Subject Status, Alert Creation Date).
- Export filters into a Custom Alert Report to review your selection.
- Start small: Test with a smaller page size (e.g., 25) to validate results and notes before scaling up to 100 per page.
- Use precise notes: Document the reason for the bulk action (historical, de-dupe, already aware from prior monitoring, or vendor).
- Avoid cross-context batches: Don’t combine unrelated alert reasons in the same bulk update. Keep each batch tied to one clear rationale.
- Confirm ownership and policy: If you’re unsure whether an alert should be resolved, move it to Under Review and have your team validate.
- Review after update: Spot-check updated alerts to ensure status and notes look correct before proceeding to the next batch.
Troubleshooting
- Update button not visible: Ensure at least one alert is selected.
- Cannot select more alerts: Increase your per-page view to 50, 75, or 100; bulk updates are limited to the current page.
- Didn’t see confirmation: The update requires two clicks—first Save Status, then confirm in the second modal.
- Unexpected results after update: contact support@providertrust.com right away.
