Managing NPDB Alerts in ProviderTrust
ProviderTrust provides continuous, 24/7 access to all new monitoring alerts. If you have opted to receive email notifications, you will receive a daily message whenever alerts remain in Needs Review status.
Accessing NPDB Alerts
From your Dashboard, the Alerts Overview section displays:
The total number of alerts in Needs Review or Under Review status
A breakdown of alerts by alert type based on your monitoring services
To review new NPDB alerts, click the numerical indicators under Needs Review or Under Review next to the NPDB alert type. This automatically redirects you to the Alerts tab with your selections pre-filtered.
Reviewing an NPDB Alert
Selecting an alert opens the Alert Overview for the corresponding individual or entity. This view includes:
All alert types associated with each monitored product
The alert source
The current review status for each alert
The NPDB Alert History section shows:
When the alert was first verified in your ProviderTrust system
Any updates to the verification history
The current review status (Needs Review, Under Review, or Resolved)
Understanding Alert Details
Within the Alert Details page:
Primary Source Data (left panel) displays data retrieved from NPDB
Subject Profile Data (right panel) displays the information your organization has provided
These panels allow you to compare your internal data with the primary-source NPDB record.
Updating Alert Status
Your organization can document investigative actions using the Status Updates section.
Click Update Status at the bottom of the page to:
Change the alert status
Add notes regarding your review
Any progress status updates will automatically reflect in your Dashboard counts.
All notes and status changes are timestamped, including the username, and cannot be deleted for audit and compliance purposes.
Automatic NPDB Data Refresh
Provider data from the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) now refreshes automatically every 90 days for all enrolled providers. This ensures you are always working with the most current information — no manual action required.
