Summary
This article provides instructions for completing and submitting the User Role Matrix to assign predefined user roles within ProviderTrust. The matrix facilitates the creation of Client Admin users, supports bulk user setup, and enables the assignment of users to specific business units. Permissions are determined by role and cannot be customized. Currently, the matrix cannot be uploaded directly into PTApp; instead, it serves as a tool to assist with the management of a larger number of users.
Overview
The User Role Matrix is used during RBAC setup to assign users a predefined role in ProviderTrust. Each role automatically applies a fixed set of permissions. The matrix must be completed accurately to ensure users receive the correct access.
When to Complete the Matrix for All Users
Use the User Role Matrix when:
Creating user accounts for a large number of users
Business unit assignments are required
ProviderTrust will create the initial Client Admin user role(s) based on the submitted matrix. Once setup is complete, the Client Admin is responsible for creating and managing additional users directly within the ProviderTrust application.
Step 1: Download the Template
Download the User Role Matrix template at the bottom of this support article and open it in Excel or a compatible spreadsheet tool.
Step 2: Complete the Matrix
Complete one row per user, using the guidance below.
| Column A | Email Address | Enter the user’s email address. This will be used as the username for login. |
| Column B | First Name | First name of user. |
| Column C | Last Name | Last name of user. |
| Column D | Business Unit (Optional) | Enter a business unit only if the user should have access limited to a specific population on the dashboard. |
| Column E | Alert Emails | Enter Y or N to indicate whether the user should receive alert emails. |
| Column F | File Upload Notifications | Enter Y or N to indicate whether the user should receive email notifications when files are uploaded. |
| Column G | User Role | Select a User Role from the dropdown menu. The selected role automatically assigns all associated permissions in the ProviderTrust application. |
Refer to the RBAC Permissions Matrix or the Permissions Matrix tab in the workbook to review permissions by role.
The Permissions Matrix tab must remain locked. Permissions cannot be modified.
Step 3: Save and Submit
Review the completed matrix for accuracy.
Save the file with your company's name included in the filename.
Submit the file to your Project Manager or Client Care representative.
ProviderTrust will create Client Admin user role(s) based on this submission. After setup is complete, the Client Admin is responsible for creating and managing additional users directly within the application.
Additional Information
Business unit assignments control which population a user can view and are not part of RBAC permissions.
Alert emails and file upload notifications are configured outside of RBAC and do not affect application access.
