ProviderTrust works to ensure NPIs are matched to the correct license information. In some cases, an NPI may be missing for one of the following reasons:
The NPI invalid
The NPI provided does not match an active record, or the NPI is incorrectly entered.
The license type doesn’t match
The license type associated with the NPI does not match the one in our records.
The license number is listed differently
The license exists in our records, but formatting differences prevent a match.
The licensing board isn’t yet part of our coverage
This licensing board is not currently included in our data augmentation.
License details aren’t available
License information for this NPI is not currently available in our data sources.
The license couldn’t be confirmed at the time of matching
The licensing website had a temporary restriction, and the license will be checked again in a future update.
License May No Longer be on the Board
The board may have removed the license’s information from public display. This often happens with expired or inactive licenses.
Note: Our data team continuously reviews opportunities to enhance source coverage and improve match rates. If you have specific credentials that are critical to your workflow but are not appearing, your Account Manager will be happy to explore potential next steps.
